One of the more famous names in the food industry is Jamie Oliver. If you don’t know who this celebrity chef is, you either don’t own a TV, or don’t have any friends who own a TV. In either case, Google is your friend.
Located close enough to the Dorsett Sheperd’s Bush Hotel, Jamie’s Italian at Westfield London has a small alfresco dining area, with the bulk of the seats indoors.
It is beautifully decorated and has a rustic yet classy feel to it, especially considering the price point of its dishes.
The menu is fairly straightforward – there’s bread and antipasti, a selection of mains and sides, pastas, desserts, and drinks. There’s also a kid’s menu.
Two dishes were sampled at Jamie’s Italian. The Gennaro’s Famous Porchetta is slow cooked pork belly filled with garlic, chilli and herbs, served with roasted root vegetables, spiced apple sauce, and salsa verde.
This dish tasted healthy and the pork meat portion was pretty good, but ultimately the skin was far too chewy to be edible. Europeans still need to learn from the Chinese how to roast perfect pork skin.
The other dish was Baked Stone Bass. This too was beautifully prepared and sat on a bed of mashed potato and radish with cubes of avocado.
It was quite balanced and tasted even better with a bit of extra salt and pepper.
From the small sample size, Jamie’s Italian was pretty decent for its price point.
P/S: There’s a branch in Singapore.
