KUALA LUMPUR: Is your dog tired of sniffing around the same old boring park for the umpteenth time this week?
Well, here’s your chance to make this Sunday extra special by letting your pooch spend an exciting day of new sights and smells in the big dazzling city of Kuala Lumpur.
Independent rescuers Voice for Paws and the city’s biggest, hippest bar The Iron Fairies KL are coming together to hold a fundraiser, aptly named, “Iron Furries”.
Held from 3.00pm to 10.00pm at the Iron Fairies courtyard area, all dog lovers are welcome to bring their fur and human kids along for a fun time.
This fundraiser is meant to provide for the abandoned, abused and rescued dogs of Kuala Lumpur as well as to raise awareness and educate the public on the plight of stray dogs in Malaysia.
Other than that, it is just a lovely day for pet lovers to come out with their furry friends and have a good time together.
Manager of The Iron Fairies, Richard Holland, said, “We want to bring awareness to neglected and unwanted dogs. And simply help raise money so this amazing charity can hopefully place more dogs with great homes.”
So, what can you and man’s best friend look forward to at Iron Furries this weekend?
If your dog needs a good brushing, do stop by the mobile truck offering pet-grooming services.
Who needs a canvas when your face will do just as well? You can get your face painted and a t-shirt decorated with the paw prints of your own dog.
Voice for Paws and Taming Wild will also be selling merchandise for you and your doggo, so knock yourself out – there’s bound to be something there for either one of you.
Besides a dog training demonstration, there will be a play area set up for visitors to pat, cuddle and hug a pack of friendly and loving dogs. But you’ve been warned! You may find yourself overwhelmed by hundreds of slobbering kisses.
For the Instagrammers and shutterbugs among you, there will be plenty of photo opportunities with the dogs running around, and photo booths set up to capture picture-perfect moments with rescued animals.
The Iron Fairies will be chipping in too, with the bar coming up with its own doggy-themed “pup-tail” and other pet-themed drinks.
Drink without regret, for revenues from these sales will be donated to Voice for Paws.
And for those who would like a bit of rhythm in their life, Joey Ghazlan will be on the microphone and DJ Victor Trixter will be spinning some of his hottest beats for both man and animal to enjoy.
“Educating the public on animal awareness is important, especially for those who consider strays a menace or ferocious beasts. A stray dog will not attack you unless you show you are a threat to them,” said Brevina Balasundran, vice-president for Voice for Paws.
“Instead of just euthanising them, we can actually train these strays to be someone’s pet, someone’s guide and give them a chance in life.”
So, don’t miss out on this event! It serves a good cause and will make the life of man’s best friend just a little easier and better. See you there!
