The Music The World: Global fusion in melodic harmony

The Music The World will perform Chinese, Spanish, Greek, Japanese, Scottish and Indonesian music.

The newly established China Cultural Centre, Kuala Lumpur, will showcase the music of the Middle Kingdom through world music band, The Music The World, from Beijing.

The 90 minute programme does not have an intermission and will feature 13 pieces. The band will play not only traditional Chinese music but also Spanish, Greek, Japanese, Scottish and Indonesian.

This is a contemporary world music improvisational band with an open concept. It promotes the idea of combining traditional folk music with avant-garde and diversified music.

Based on the Chinese cultural perspective, the band respects tradition yet keeps an inclusive attitude to attract modern listeners.

It aims at protecting and inheriting the spirit of traditional music by absorbing fresh talent from different music cultures and performing contemporary world music in a cross-border way.

World music fusion at its melodic best

“Fusion”, “improvisation” and “cosmopolitan” best describe the driving characteristics of the band.

It strives to give full play to the musical nature and cultural characteristics of each band member and tries to explore and discover the beauty of world music and the energy of different musical genres.

Using the main perspective of Chinese culture, the improvisation is accompanied by integrating Chinese, Western and world music, which leads to a new kind of fusion based on traditional values.

If you are open and adventurous enough to see how different types of music and culture integrate in creating beautiful melodies, then this is just the concert for you.
