You will need to do a bit of searching and asking about at the market, before you can locate Mat Teh Ikan Bakar.
The stall is situated within the Dato’ Keramat wet market, facing the parking area.
You will immediately know that this the right place as it is always packed, and the busy grill will have at least 30 fish being grilled, neatly wrapped in banana leaf for extra flavor.
Do place an order for grilled ikan pari (stringray), which comes with a generous amount of ulam (Malay style raw salad) with sambal, soup, and a plate of hot steamed rice.
The fish is thick and huge, and can easily feed two persons, which explains its cost of between RM 14 to16. It is definitely worth the price.
The cooking method using banana leaf ensures that it retains plenty of juice and is flavorful. Dip it in the accompanying sambal, and you will be more than satisfied.
The Mat Teh stall also offers a pretty good choice of fresh juices. Do call for a glass of mango juice which complements your spicy meal very well.
This is definitely a place you will want to visit again, with friends and family.
If you’re looking for some good ikan bakar to satisfy your cravings, this is the place to check out. Getting there is as easy as taking the LRT and getting off at the Dato’ Keramat station.
