Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year, and with two weeks to go, it’s not too late to make some last-minute improvements around the house.

Here are four ideas to spruce up your home for the holidays!

1. House cleaning

This year and last, Malaysians have had to spend more time than usual at home. Inevitably, this might have led to an overwhelming amount of clutter, dust and mess, especially if you have children.

With guests arriving soon this Christmas, it’s time to give your house a good cleaning and tidying up. If you don’t have the time or motivation, hire a professional house cleaning service to efficiently make your home sparkle.

2. Sofa cleaning

It’s the time of year to gather with your loved ones, and the sofa is the centre of the home where you can share a laugh, watch television, snack, and spend quality time together.

The sofa is often placed near frequently opened doors and windows, so you should not be surprised that dust, bacteria, mites and mould have probably accumulated over time – not forgetting cookie crumbs and coffee stains.

Depending on the material, it is crucial to clean your sofa according to the cleaning instructions given. Alternatively, call a professional furniture-cleaning company to ease your burden.

3. Aircon servicing

Malaysia’s hot and humid weather makes air-conditioner servicing even more important. Your aircon should be serviced every three to six months to prolong its lifespan and effectiveness.

Malaysians may not experience a white Christmas, but they can certainly replicate the cooling or freezing effect with a well-maintained aircon!

4. Lighting installation

Lighting plays a crucial role in determining the overall tone of a space. Get creative and play around with your lights to achieve the feel you want.

Bring in new lamps, try bulbs of different wattages, or go for LED Christmas lights to create a festive mood.

If you are thinking of changing up your lights for a cosy ambience to fit the holiday vibe but have no idea how to install them, contact an experienced lighting technician.
