Sand bags to shore up collapsed beach road

DUNGUN: The Drainage and Irrigation Department and the Terengganu State Economic Planning Unit have allocated RM20,000 to build a sand embankment along a partially collapsed road at the Sura beach here.

A 100-metre stretch of the road had collapsed two days ago, after repeated battering by strong waves.

Dungun development officer Din Adam said construction work began last night in an initial measure to avoid more road collapses.

“A mutual agreement was reached between the DID, East Coast Economic Region (ECER) and the economic planning unit to build the temporary embankment using sand bags,” he said.
