ALOR SETAR: New Kedah Menteri Besar Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah met Prime Minister Najib Razak in Putrajaya today, reportedly to discuss the line-up of the new Kedah state executive council.
A Kedah Umno leader, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed the meeting between the two leaders.
“It is believed that the meeting between Ahmad Bashah and the Prime Minister discussed the line-up of the new state executive council.
“The line-up is confidential. The Menteri Besar himself will announce whether the existing state executive council will be retained or dropped,” said the leader.
Ahmad Bashah was appointed the 12th Menteri Besar of Kedah last Thursday after Mukhriz Mahathir resigned, citing a lack of majority support in the state legislative assembly.
Ahmad Bashah had been reported as saying that his meeting with the Prime Minister would determine whether the existing state executive council would be retained or reshuffled.
He also said that the new state executive council line-up would be announced after Chinese New Year, most probably next week.
