SHAH ALAM: Raya came early for 17,582 Selangor civil servants after Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali announced a month-and-a-half bonus as well as a salary and housing allowance increment.
Azmin, who is also the Bukit Antarabangsa assemblyman, said the bonus will be credited on July 1, while the state will double the yearly increment for 2016 in appreciation of the performance of Selangor civil servants.
“It is not enough to just thank civil servants for commitment without incentives,” he told more than 1,000 civil servants at the Selangor Secretariat Building here today.
The PKR deputy president said civil servants in Grade 41 and below will now receive RM300 as housing allowance, an increase of RM120 from the current monthly sum of RM180.
Earlier, Azmin explained that his administration managed to boost the state coffers from RM3.3 billion to RM4.1 billion this year.
Last weekend, Azmin had hinted that civil servants here would receive “a bigger bonus” this year as they had shown greater unity under his administration. Last year, the state paid out a month’s bonus.
He refused to divulge any details at the time in view of the Sungai Besar by-election but stressed it would be more than the sum handed out last year.
