GEORGE TOWN: We don’t want your “sandiwara” (antics), special officer to the Penang Chief Minister Marziah Mohd Muktar has told former by-election candidate Abu Backer Sidek Mohammad Zan.
This is over Backer’s offer of a “bungalow buyout” yesterday.
In a statement, Marziah said she was tricked into receiving a “letter and cheque” from Backer yesterday and that she regretted it now.
“Without bothering about the holy month of Ramadan, he (Backer) has misused a breaking of fast event by tricking me to receive a letter and cheque dated June 20.
“The contents of the letter was not related to the administrative affairs of the Penang government. So, I will return Backer’s letter and cheque through registered post to his appointed law firm at Rangoon Road,” she said.
Marziah said Backer would repeat his “sandiwara”, such as when he “fell” in front of the chief minister’s official car, two years ago.
“I am sure he will not give up seeking attention. He also tore his nomination papers in the recent Kuala Kangsar by-election. We can only wait and see what Backer is up to next.”
Backer had on Monday, offered to buy the bungalow of Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng for RM2.8 million, and passed a cheque to Marziah for the amount of RM56,000 as a downpayment.
He did so after turning up at a breaking of fast ceremony in Air Itam, where he missed Lim by minutes. He then decided to hand over the letter and cheque to Marziah instead.
Backer later told reporters he wanted to buy the bungalow so that he could sell it for a good profit.
