SHAH ALAM: Four men took only five minutes to escape with jewellery worth RM230,000 in a robbery at Kampung Batu 7, Jalan Kebun, yesterday.
Shah Alam Police Chief ACP Shafien Mamat said three workers were in the jewellery shop when four men in their 30s arrived on two motorcycles at 3.52 pm.
“The suspects wearing crash hemlets and armed with a pistol, parang and a hammer threatened the workers to hand over the jewellery.
“No customers were inside the shop at that time and no employees were hurt,” he told reporters after launching “Op Selamat 9” here today.
Shafien said investigations revealed the jewellery shop is a family business which began operation over a year ago and was not equipped with safety features.
Police found a jacket belonging to one of the suspects at the scene. The case is being investigated under Section 395 and 397 of the Penal Code.
