PUTRAJAYA: About 70,000 people are expected to attend the Aidilfitri open house hosted by the prime minister and the Cabinet at the Seri Perdana Complex here tomorrow.
Prime Minister’s Department Senior Deputy Secretary-General Othman Mahmood said Prime Minister Najib Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor as well as the Cabinet ministers have invited the people to the open house.
He said the open house would be held from 10am to 4pm, and was aimed at fostering goodwill and enhancing relations between the leaders and the people.
“Various kinds of Aidilfitri delicacies will be available. Guests will also be able to watch performances that portray the uniqueness of Malaysian culture,” he told reporters after a first-hand look at the final preparations for the open house at the Seri Perdana Complex today.
Othman said the security aspect had been given priority to ensure that the event proceeded without any untoward incident.
“The Royal Malaysian Police and the Security Division in the Prime Minister’s Department always give priority to security,” he said.
He also said that tourists were invited to attend the event to see for themselves the uniqueness of Malaysia and the unity of the people as they celebrated Aidilfitri.
Othman said free bus services would be provided to the Seri Perdana Complex from three locations, namely Putrajaya Sentral, the Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque and the Putra Mosque.
“The people are encouraged to use the bus services to avoid traffic congestion,” he said.
The Prime Minister’s Department had issued a statement to remind guests to be attired in the national dress or appropriately.
