Slow going on northern highways as holidays end

PLUS Malaysia Berhad

KUALA LUMPUR: Traffic is reported to have picked up on major highways as more people leave their hometowns with the Aidifitri holidays drawing to a close.

Highway operator PLUS Malaysia Berhad said traffic was slow on the North-South Highway from Changkat Jering to Bukit Berapit and Sungai Perak to the Menora Tunnel.

“Traffic is also slow from Permatang Pauh to Perai,” he said.

A Malaysian Highway Authority spokesman said the situation was the same in both directions at the Karak toll plaza, from Bentong to Bukit Tinggi and from Gombak to the Middle Ring Road 2.

“Traffic is also picking up from Kuala Terengganu to Kuantan while it is still smooth elsewhere on the East Coast Highway 2,” he said.
