KUANTAN: The armed forces will be accepting housemen at military hospitals on Jan 1.

The director-general of health services in the armed forces, Lt General Dr Abdul Razak Md Yusoff, announced that the first 30 to 40 housemen will be posted at Tuanku Mizan Hospital in Kuala Lumpur, Terendak Hospital, Malacca; and Lumut Hospital, Perak.

“Preparations for the implementation of the programme had begun two years ago with strict supervision from the relevant authorities, including the Malaysian Medical Council,” he said.

“So far, the MMC is satisfied with our preparations, facilities and capability to run the programme and we are now awaiting the written approval for policy and administration purposes,” he said.

Abdul Razak said applications for the programme also came from foreign students of the Faculty of Medicine and Defence Health of Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia.
