KUALA TERENGGANU: Ajil assemblyman Ghazali Taib has expressed his commitment to continue supporting Menteri Besar Ahmad Razif Abd Rahman to lead the Terengganu Government.
He said as an elected representative, he hoped the current leadership would remain strong and there would be no dissolution of the state government.
“We are all one team and under one leadership, and the state’s leadership is currently running smoothly and as usual,” he told reporters during a break at the Terengganu State Assembly sitting in Wisma Darul Iman today.
The political crisis in Terengganu came into focus when former menteri besar Ahmad Said, who is also Kijal assemblyman, and Ghazali criticised Ahmad Razif’s leadership.
Recently, several newspapers reported that Ghazali, who is also state communications, multimedia and special duties committee chairman, had requested that Umno’s top leadership take immediate action to resolve the crisis in the state administration, which he claimed had failed to function properly.
Today, Ghazali said the issue had been sensationalised by the media when in fact, there was no problem at all.
“It’s normal…the media likes sensational things, so what I said was actually good, but certain parties took the opportunity to make it look big,” he said.
Meanwhile, Permaisuri assemblyman Mohd Jidin Shafee said all state executive council members remained united in facing any problem in the state administration.
Mohd Jidin, who is also state local government and housing committee chairman, said the state assembly session went smoothly with no emergency motion raised.
“Today’s issues have been settled…nothing happened…all 17 of us (Barisan Nasional assemblymen) came. Sometimes, freedom of information has led to various speculations to spread,” he added.
