KUALA LUMPUR: Businesswoman Gee Siew Yee has appointed two new lawyers to represent her in divorce proceedings with her husband and lawyer Stanley Augustin.
Lawyers Choo Dee Wei and Bryan Ng Yih Miin said that Gee only approached them on Monday. “We have filed our appearance at the case management today,” said Choo.
The court fixed September 6 for the next case management, he added.
The divorce went public when a purported statutory declaration (SD) by Augustin accused his wife of having an affair with a senior politician.
When asked about a possible settlement between the estranged pair, Choo said that “we need to get further instructions from her”.
Augustin, who attended court, and his lawyer S. Periasamy did not take questions from the press.
The hearing for Augustin and Gee’s divorce was vacated on June 20 by the court.
Augustin, a former prosecutor, filed for divorce from Gee in 2014. They were married on 24 April 2007 at the National Registration Department (NRD) in Putrajaya.
Augustin has three children from a previous marriage. Gee has two children from a previous marriage.
