SEREMBAN: The planned cable car project linking uninhabited Pulau Arang to the Port Dickson Waterfront, to boost tourism in the seaside town, has been cancelled.
Menteri Besar Mohamad Hasan said the proposed project was scrapped as the state government felt it was not viable as the cost would be too high and the returns very slow.
“We will develop Port Dickson with other tourism products to draw more people there,” he told reporters after a state executive council meeting at Wisma Negeri here yesterday.
The planned mainland-to-island cable car was supposed to be part of the RM2 billion PD Waterfront project.
According to the project plan, the PD Waterfront and its surrounding area would be transformed into PD Vista by 2019.
