KUALA LUMPUR: Waze, the free, real-time traffic and navigation app powered by the community of drivers, has launched a voice prompt featuring AirAsia Group Chief Executive Officer Tony Fernandes.
Fernandes would guide drivers, just like air traffic controllers, as they navigate Malaysian roads using his featured voice on Waze.
“A lot of people ask me what it’s like being an AirAsia pilot. Now you can experience what it’s like to fly high in the sky interacting with me as your air traffic controller.
“And like a real air traffic controller, I can’t make any promises about the congestion, but I can promise that with Waze, we will get you there the quickest and least boring way possible,” Fernandes said in a statement here today.
Waze Malaysia Sales Manager Edward Ling said it was thrilled to bring Fernandes’ voice to Waze, guiding Wazers along a route from the tower control.
“Voice prompts are one of our most popular features and a great way to bring a brand to life within the context of a drive.
“Fernandes’ voice navigation will make him your co-pilot on any route, making you feel like you’re flying while you are driving,” Ling said.
Other Malaysians who have been featured for Waze’s voice navigation are stand-up comedian and talk show host Harith Iskander and singer Yuna.
