PETALING JAYA: A feisty cat fought off a 1.5m-long black cobra that entered a home in Jalan Manggis, Teluk Intan, yesterday.
The reptile had tried to crawl through a bathroom water outlet into the home about 7.30pm.
Homeowner Amirul Azmie Kamarul Zaman, 27, said he heard his cat, Baby, hissing and rushed to the bathroom.
“I was shocked to see my cat fighting the giant snake,” he told NST Online.
The snake was stuck in the hole’s cover and Amirul Azmie alerted the Civil Defence Department, which immediately sent a team to catch the cobra.
“I am very lucky that my cat found the snake first.
“I cannot imagine what would have happened to my family if the cobra had managed to enter our house,” Amirul told the news portal.
The prevailing hot weather is said to have driven the snake to seek cooler places.
