PETALING JAYA: Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Jamil Khir Baharom has ordered mosques and musallahs (praying places) under the authority of the Federal Government to hold the Solat Jenazah Ghaib (funeral prayers) after Friday prayers for the late Dr Haron Din.
The PAS spiritual leader died this morning in the United States after slipping into a coma following complications for a heart treatment he had undergone at the Stanford University hospital in California.
In a statement issued today, Jamil expressed his condolences over Haron Din’s passing.
“It is with deep sorrow and grief that our country has lost a figure who has contributed much in service to his religion and the nation.
“I ask that all Muslims pray the Solat Jenazah Ghaib as soon as we have been notified that all matters there have been taken care of.
“On this occasion, I also seek the cooperation of the various state Islamic Councils and Islamic Religious Departments to request all mosques in their respective states jointly perform the Solat Jenazah Ghaib.”
He also extended his condolences to Haron Din’s family and appealed to them to remain strong through the deceased’s passing.
