PETALING JAYA: A police report has been lodged against Bersih 2.0 leader Maria Chin Abdullah for calling people to gather for the planned Bersih 5 rally on Nov 19.
The report was lodged by the pro-Umno Red Shirts movement, whose information chief, Ariffin Abu Bakar, called for stern action against Chin for inciting people to gather and commit acts which he said could destabilise public order and peace.
He decided to make a police report after watching an online video recording of Bersih 2.0’s press conference, according to Star Online. He said Chin was blatantly spreading false allegations about Prime Minister Najib Razak.
“I am worried her acts could tarnish the image of our country,” he was quoted as saying after lodging the report at Ampang Jaya.
He said he was strongly opposed to the Bersih 5 rally as it could cause chaos, destabilise the economy and disrupt tourism activities.
