PETALING JAYA: Heavy rain overnight brought floods in parts of George Town this morning. Two rivers rose to danger levels and flood warnings were issued to residents along Sungei Pinang and Sungai Air Itam.
Traffic was reported to be congested at Jalan Masjid Negri and at a standstill at Jalan Scotland this morning, with Jalan P. Ramlee, Taman Lumba Kuda and Jalan Air Itam also reported to be flooded.
Falling trees damaged a car and a house in Jelutong, and damaged a few cars parked by the roadside in Taman Pekaka, Sungai Dua, news reports said.
The Drainage and Irrigation Department reported that Sungai Pinang had risen to 2.72m and 6.91m at Sungai Air Itam this morning.
