Jealousy suspected in killing of nightclub hostess

death

LABUAN: A woman whose body was found by a jogger may have been murdered out of jealousy, police said after a post-mortem examination revealed cracks and slash wounds on the skull, chin and wrists.

The decomposed body of the woman was found by a jogger at the foot of a hill near Kampung Sg Lada on Sept 12.

Labuan police chief Supt Adzhar Othman said the autopsy showed that the victim had suffered physical assault.

The woman, a Filipina, worked as a guest relations officer at an entertainment outlet.

He said the woman’s murder could be caused by jealousy.

“The post-mortem found cracks and slash wounds on the woman’s skull, chin and wrists, believed to have been hit by sharp and hard objects. The deceased’s chin bone was also missing,” he said.

She had been dead for two to four weeks before the body was found.

Last week, Adzhar, the forensic unit of the Sabah police, and district CID chief had visited the scene where they found a pair of earrings and strands of hair.

“A family from the Philippines has claimed the victim to be their relative, but we are still liaising with the Philippine Consulate here to confirm the identity of the victim,” he said. DNA tests will be conducted.
