PETALING JAYA: Permata’s accounts are are checked by the National Audit Department and included in the annual auditor-general’s report.
This clarification came from Rizal Mansor, who is an aide to Prime Minister Najib Razak’s wife Rosmah Mansor, who is Permata patron.
Rizal criticised a report in the DAP’s newsletter, Rocketkini, that claimed Permata’s accounts were not tabled during a meeting with BN and Opposition elected representatives yesterday.
He said the explanation conducted by the Permata management concerned the programme and its achievements.
He said the expenditure for the programme was explained, but the meeting was not meant to audit the accounts.
“For Roketkini’s information, Permata does not audit its own accounts.”
As it is a federal body, the A-G will audit.
Those who attended the briefing included DAP state assemblyperson Yeo Bee Yin, Selangor state assembly Speaker Hannah Yeoh, Serdang MP Ong Kian Meng, Pulau Tikus state assemblyperson Yap Soo Huey, Langkawi MP Nawawi Ahmad and Wanita MCA Chief Heng Seai Kie, Malaysiakini reported.
