KUALA NERUS: A supermarket, said to be in Kuala Terenganu, has disposed off 63.8 kg of dried chilli to bring back customer confidence, after pictures of rats in piles of chilli went viral on social media on Monday.
State Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism (KPDNKK) Director Azlan Abd Samat said five KPDNKK personnel went to the supermarket to find out the actual situation.
“The pictures went viral on social media at night. So, early, the next morning we went to the supermarket, and were informed by the management that 63.8kg of chilli stock had been disposed of.
“The management also said they had changed the method of packing new dried chilli by selling them in smaller packets and not in big open boxes as previously,” he told reporters after attending a 2016 Deepavali Festive Season Price Control Scheme here yesterday.
