SUNGAI PETANI: Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin said opposition politicians had been unprofessional in conducting a walkout protest during the 2017 Budget speech in the Dewan Rakyat yesterday.

He said opposition MPs knew they would have two weeks in which to express their dissatisfaction with the budget.

Khairy, who is MP for Rembau, said opposition MPs should have allowed the Prime Minister, Najib Razak, to continue with his budget speech yesterday.

“It was very disappointing. The action was unprofessional, although they are free to act that way. I believe we should exhibit a professional attitude during the tabling of the budget.

“Yesterday was the prime minister and finance minister’s chance to present the budget. If they are not satisfied, they can state them during the debate,” he said, according to NST Online.

The budget speech in the Dewan Rakyat was disrupted when opposition MPs heckled Najib after he took a swipe at opposition allegations that the government had insufficient funds to meet its budget obligations.
