KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has opened a disciplinary investigation paper against an officer in its agency who allegedly abused his wife.
The news was spread over social media recently.
MACC in a statement today said it was prepared to cooperate with the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) following a police report lodged by the woman.
“MACC will not hesitate to take disciplinary action if the officer is found guilty,” the statement said.
The agency also urged the public not to speculate on the issue and to leave the matter to the police to investigate.
Recently, a Facebook account under the name of Shahilda Fadhil, carried a revealing status update that caught the attention of netizens.
In the status, Shahilda spoke of the domestic violence she endured at the hands of her husband, who she claimed was a MACC officer, and who often abused and sexually assaulted her.
