Part-time Grab driver charged with insulting woman’s modesty

Bail for M Vijayakumar has been set at RM4,000 after he was charged with outraging the modesty of a woman in a car last month.

A part-time Grab driver was charged in the magistrate’s court here today with insulting the modesty of a 20-year-old woman early last month.

M Vijayakumar, 27, an engineer, claimed trial to committing the offence in a car along New Klang Valley Expressway, Kota Damansara, here at noon on Nov 5.

He faces Section 509 of the Penal Code which carries a maximum jail term of five years or a fine or both, on conviction.

Magistrate Salamiah Hassan set RM4,000 as bail with one surety and Jan 13 for remention.

The court also set an additional condition on the accused — that the bail would be forfeited should there be any police reports of indecency against him throughout the case.

Deputy public prosecutor Nadiah Malek Fauzie appeared for the prosecution while counsel Mohd Shazwan Mohd Hassan represented Vijayakumar.
