KUALA LUMPUR: After police shot dead a top terrorist leader when stopping a kidnapping off Semporna on Thursday, they are on high alert now for a revenge attack.
“If they want to take revenge, the police are on standby,” said Deputy Home Minister Nur Jazlan Mohamed today.
In a kidnapping gone wrong, an Abu Sayyaf leader was one of three Filipino gunmen shot dead by Sabah authorities. Two other gunmen were arrested.
One officer from the Police’s 14th Battalion General Operations Force was reported to have been shot in a leg in the one-minute shootout.
Today, Nur Jazlan revealed that the police had not ruled out any revenge attack by the Abu Sayyaf group.
He was speaking to The Star after visiting the Kuan Yin welfare home in Taman Bukit Kempas.
