He had started work just a month ago, said The Star newspaper. Zakeer Zubir, 32, brought along his baby daughter and wife on the bus, without telling the bus owner, Goldstar (M) Sdn Bhd.
Fourteen people died at the scene in what is the worst bus crash since the Genting Highlands crash three years ago, which killed 37 people.
Police confirmed that the bus this morning was travelling at high speed before the accident. It was heading to Kuala Lumpur from Johor Baru.
Goldstar chief supervisor for the southern region, Steven Chong, told The Star that the driver’s wife, believed to be Indonesian, survived.
“We are still gathering information about the victims and contacting their families,” Chong said at the Sultanah Fatimah Specialist Hospital.
Among the 16 injured were seven local men, five Singaporean men, two Myanmar men, a Singaporean woman and an unidentified woman.
