Slow traffic along North-South Expressway as holidays end

KUALA LUMPUR: Traffic flow on several major highways has been reduced to a crawl as the number of vehicles heading to the city swelled as people return home after spending the Chinese New Year holidays in their hometowns.

A PLUS Malaysia Berhad spokesman said traffic flow as of 10pm was congested along the North- South Expressway from Kuala Kangsar to Bukit Berapit and from Bukit Berapit to the Menora Tunnel.

“Traffic congestion was also reported from Jelapang to Simpang Pulai, Gua Tempurung to Slim River and Bukit Tagar to Bukit Beruntung,” he said.

Traffic flow from the south, heading to Kuala Lumpur was also reported to be congested in several stretches, namely from Bandar Ainsdale to Nilai, Ayer Keroh to Seremban and from Pagoh to Senai (heading to Johor Bahru).

Meanwhile, a spokesman for the Malaysian Highway Authority (MHA) said traffic was moving slowly from Bentong to Bukit Tinggi and Gombak to the city.
