PETALING JAYA: Lee Chong Wei advanced to the final after defeating Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei in the All England championship at the Barclaycard Arena in Birmingham today.
He beat Chou the world No 9, 10-21, 21-14, 21-9.
Earlier, a leg injury had cast doubts on whether Chong Wei, 34, would be taking part in his fourth All-England.
He had won the All-England in 2010, 2011 and 2014.
On Friday, he had defeated world No 6 Tian Houwei of China 21-12, 21-15.
The world No 1 will next meet China’s Lin Dan or world No 10 Shi Yuqi for the title.
Meanwhile, the mixed doubles pair of Chan Peng Soon/Goh Liu Ying also qualified for the final in Birmingham tomorrow.
The duo swept aside Yuta Watanabe/Arisa Higashino from Japan, 21-17, 21-15 in straight sets at the Barclays Arena, Saturday.
They are set to face Lu Kai/Huang Yaqiong of China, who beat England’s Chris Adcock/Gabrielle Adcock 19-21, 21-12, 22-20.
