SUNGAI PETANI: The Kedah Health Department has denied the allegation by a man that the Bukit Selambau Health Clinic near here delayed medical treatment for his friend.
A video clip of the incident went viral on Thursday.
Its director, Dr Norhizan Ismail said the client’s charter at the clinic clearly states that the waiting time for new cases is 60 minutes.
“There is no delay and in fact, the necessary treatment was given. The registration was done at 2.05pm (on Thursday), followed by initial treatment by the staff nurse at 2.15pm. The nurse also briefed the medical officer (MO) on giving further treatment to the patient.
“However, since the MO was performing an ultrasound scan on a pregnant woman who needed to be referred to a hospital, the nurse was told to inform the assistant medical officer.
“The patient was treated at 2.21pm and the treatment was completed at 2.40pm,” he said in a statement here today.
Dr Norhizan said investigations revealed that the man, who is also the complainant, brought his friend to the clinic about 2pm and recorded the video at 2.23pm.
“The complainant had trespassed to all rooms and the counter area while taking the video. He had also raised his voice in an aggressive manner causing the staff to be scared of explaining the situation and to prevent any untoward incidents,” he added.
