ALOR SETAR: Kedah Umno Youth has lodged a police report against Pokok Sena MP Mahfuz Omar for barging into the Kedah state assembly hall along with his supporters to hand over a memorandum when its sitting ended yesterday.

The report was lodged by its executive secretary, Mohd Tahir Md Zain, at the Kota Setar police headquarters here this morning.

Kedah Umno Youth chief Shaiful Hazizy Zainol Abidin, who was also present, said the action by Mahfuz, who entered the assembly hall to meet Kedah Menteri Besar Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah, was uncalled for.

“He was trying to seek cheap publicity. He could have waited at the lobby area but resorted to unbecoming behaviour.

“We urge police to investigate the matter and take appropriate action so that such incidents do not recur.”

Mahfuz, along with 14 supporters barged into the hall to protest the proposed acquisition of their land in Kampung Baru, Jalan Padang Tembak, Bukit Pinang, by Permodalan Kedah Berhad for a housing project for civil servants.
