PETALING JAYA: In a possible case of unrequited love gone wrong, a man took out his anger on a woman by splashing acid on her face, theSun reported.
However, the man suspected of having carried out the attack had later taken his own life.
Police investigating the attack on the Indonesian victim went to the suspect’s house in the days following the attack and found out that the man had hanged himself.
According to the police, the incident took place in Sungei Way at about 6.30am, while the woman was on her way to the factory where she worked. As she was walking, a man rode up on his motorbike and splashed the liquid on her face.
“The woman told us that she recognised the man as ‘Ah Sok’, someone whom she had known for eight months. He was believed to be in his 50s,” Petaling Jaya police chief ACP Mohd Zani Che Din was quoted as saying by the daily.
The police found out about the man’s suicide when they went to his house and were told by his son that he had hanged himself on the same day of the incident.
According to theSun, police said the suspect had committed suicide at around 1pm, just hours following the incident.
Police are believed to be investigating all possible motives behind the incident.
However, Zani said the incident was a random attack and that there was no further threat to the neighbourhood where the incident took place.
