MIRI: A man who threatened to kill his wife and parents-in-law was arrested by the police in Kampung Tunku Abdul Rahman Batu 10, Lambir, at 8.30pm yesterday.
Miri police chief ACP Khoo Leng Huat said the self-employed 40-year-old had also tried to strangle his 37-year-old wife in the incident which occurred at 10pm on Sunday.
“The husband had brought a machete, threatening to kill the victim and her parents who live in Tudan. Fearing for her life, the victim and her children fled the house,” he said in a statement here today.
Khoo said according to the victim’s wife, the suspect who had undergone drug rehabilitation treatment in Kuching was hot-tempered and often became violent when angry.
“The victim, who was unable to tolerate the attitude of the suspect any longer, was scared to go home. She then lodged a police report.”
