PETALING JAYA: Four students of a rehabilitation school in Malacca pleaded not guilty in court for shoving a deodorant bottle into the vagina of a younger student at their hostel.
According to a news report in The Star, Norsyazwana Azmi and Nur Iman Nina Deri, both 18, as well as Maizatul Hanissa Abdullah and Norlihani Mohd Zairi, both 19, claimed trial before Sessions Court judge Ahmad Sazali Omar.
The four were charged under Section 377CA of the Penal Code for “having sexual connection” with the victim, a 17-year-old, by introduction of an object into her vagina.
The incident allegedly took place at the Melor Hostel in Sekolah Tunas Bakti, Tanjung Kling, at about 5pm on April 9.
The offence carries up to 30 years’ imprisonment upon conviction.
Bail was originally set at RM30,000 each by DPP Siti Ruvina Mohd Rawi, who told the court one of the accused would be leaving school next month, the English daily reported.
However counsel for all the accused, Andrew Lourdes, asked for a lower amount, arguing that his clients came from poor families and would be unable to post bail of RM30,000 each. He said they would then have to stay at Sg Udang prison.
The court set bail at RM15,000 each and fixed May 17 for mention.
All four students posted bail later in the day and were released.
