Baling crash: 4-day remand for driver who tested positive for drugs

ALOR SETAR: The 37-year-old woman detained by police following an accident which killed Baling Narcotics chief ASP Mohd Noor Mat Yaub and his wife yesterday is in remand for four days, beginning today.

Magistrate Mohd Izmi Ibrahim issued the remand order today.

When contacted, Baling district police chief Supt Shariffuddin Yusoff said the woman would be investigated under Section 15(1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for self-administration of a dangerous drug.

The woman, from Baling, who was at the wheel of a Toyota Hilux involved in the crash, had tested positive for methamphetamine, he added.

In the 7.15am incident yesterday, Mohd Noor and his wife, Suriya Abdul Rahman, 37, were killed in a road accident at Kampung Teluk Teduri, Baling, when the Toyota Passo in which they were travelling with their children was hit from behind by another car.

However, the children survived the crash.
