GEORGE TOWN: Police have arrested the two men who hijacked a Penang Island City Council lorry outside their seafood stall at Jalan Tanjung Tokong last night.
Northeast district police chief ACP Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said the two men, aged 28 and 34, were detained shortly after they arrived at the Pulau Tikus police station.
He said they would be investigated for using criminal force to deter a public servant from the discharge of his duty under the Penal Code.
He added that the case was “solved”, but did not say when the men would be brought to court.
Yesterday, the duo hijacked the city council enforcement lorry in an attempt to prevent their illegal eatery from being raided for the fourth time.
The men drove the lorry for 2km to the Pulau Tikus police station, where they lodged a report against the city council raiding team.
The two men filmed their entire hijack on their phones and later uploaded the clip to Facebook.
City council officials say the eatery was operating illegally on government reserve land and had been raided three times since April last year.
