PETALING JAYA: Don’t play with fire – especially not in an airport, is Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd’s (MAHB) advice to children and their parents.
This follows an incident at low-cost carrier airport klia2 this morning where a child playing with a cigarette lighter set fire to an artificial tree there.
“Luckily, a quick-thinking airline staff immediately put out the fire within five minutes before any further untoward incidents occurred,” MAHB said in a post on its Instagram feed.
“We would like to remind all parents to keep watch on their children at all times and to prevent them from playing with dangerous items for their own safety and that of others.”
The post, which had received over 200 likes by 1pm, also evoked comments from users who called for more supervision of children on the part of parents.
“By the way parents, watch your kids la. Don’t let them play with lighters and matches. Gosh!” said one user who went by the name of kinkywildcat.
Others took a more humorous approach to the incident.
“We have so many trees here, just plant a real one la. Real ones not so easy to catch fire you know,” said user ruijian17.
