KUALA LUMPUR: A former DAP member today came knocking at the door of Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng’s service centre, demanding Lim pay him RM3,500 for legal fees he had to incur more than two years ago.
However, to Yap Kon Min’s disappointment, no one was in the DAP Segambut office in Bandar Menjalara, Kepong.
Yap told reporters today that he wanted Lim to pay him the money that he had spent to appoint a lawyer to help him seal off Lim’s office for having failed to obey a court order to pay RM27,000 in costs after the latter lost in his defamation lawsuit against the former in January 2014.
“My lawyer said I can claim the legal fees back from Lim. So, I am giving him two weeks from today to pay me the RM3,500 or else I will take further action against him,” he said.
Yap claimed the DAP MP had refused to obey the court order to pay him the RM27,000, forcing him to appoint a lawyer to seal off Lim’s office.
On Jan 22, 2015, Yap told reporters that he had received the RM27,000 in damages after the court bailiffs had gone to Lim’s office to seal it.
When contacted by FMT, Lim refused to comment on the matter.
