GEORGE TOWN: A restaurant supervisor was hurt when he tried to stop a fight between two groups of men who hurled pieces of chicken at each other at a nasi kandar shop in Bukit Mertajam early this morning.
In the 3.20am incident at Chai Leng Park, Perai, the 28-year-old supervisor sustained slight injuries to his right hand.
According to police, the incident began when a group of four men “yelled” for the waiter to come to their table.
Two men at another table thought they were being yelled at. One of the two men then hurled pieces of chicken at the group of four in protest.
They also charged at the four and started attacking them.
A free-for-all ensued as the restaurant supervisor and workers tried to stop the two groups from kicking and punching each other.
Minutes later, the parties were restrained by restaurant workers and police were alerted.
Central Seberang Perai district police chief ACP Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid said three men, aged between 21 and 23, were detained for investigations for possession of weapons.
He said police had identified three more men and they were being sought for investigations.
“We have taken the closed-circuit television camera footage of the incident and will investigate further,” Nik Ros said.
