JEMPOL: The driver of a trailer lorry involved in an accident which claimed eight lives at Km25 of the Bahau-Keratong road yesterday is being remanded for four days from today.
Jempol district police chief Supt Noorzainy Mohd Noor said the 44-year-old man was remanded to facilitate the investigation.
Speaking to reporters outside the Jempol Hospital mortuary here, he said the trailer lorry and three cars involved in the accident would be sent to Puspakom soon to find out the cause of the accident.
The three cars were a Perodua Myvi, a Toyota Vios and a Proton Exora which got stuck under the trailer lorry, causing six people to burn to death.
The six in a family travelling in the Proton Exora who met the fiery end were identified as vehicle driver Wan Mohd Fauzi Wan Mohd Ibrahim, 52, wife, Masnoraida M Yussof, 44, and their four children, Wan Muhammad Muhaimmin, 21, Wan Athira, 18, Wan Mohd Ammar Haziq, 13, and Wan Nur Aiesya, seven.
Four hearses were used to carry the remains of the victims to Jelawat, Bachok, Kelantan, where funeral prayers were conducted before burial.
The Perodua Myvi driver was identified as Osman Mohamed, 31, and his wife, Rosniza Othman, 32.
