PUTRAJAYA: All five research universities in Malaysia are now listed in Asean’s top 10 universities, according to Higher Education Minister Idris Jusoh.
He said Universiti Malaya (UM) was ranked third in Asean’s best universities, while Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) was ranked fourth and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) fifth.
“Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) is at seventh place, while Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) is at eighth place,” he said in his speech at the signing ceremony of a pledge to create effective and efficient knowledge, expertise and facility sharing among local universities.
Also listed in the top 10 were universities from Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia.
Last week, the five Malaysian research universities were also listed in the 1% of the world’s top universities for 2017/2018 by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS).
