PUTRAJAYA: Former Felda Global Ventures (FGV) chairman Isa Samad arrived at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters in Putrajaya this morning, accompanied by his wife, Bibi Sharliza Mohd Khalid.
The couple were issued a summons by the MACC yesterday, ordering them to make themselves present at the anti-graft agency for their statements to be recorded.
The MACC has so far not revealed the nature of the investigation for which the statements are being taken.
Avoiding the media gathered outside the MACC office since early this morning, the couple quickly exited the black Lexus they arrived in and made their way into the building.
Isa quit his role as FGV chairman on Monday after meeting with Prime Minister Najib Razak. He was later appointed acting chairman of the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD).
FGV has come under investigation following allegations of misconduct and abuse of power, that were made by the plantation giant’s president and chief executive officer Zakaria Arshad on June 6.
Zakaria has urged the MACC to probe deals made by the company, especially those involving FGV’s procurement department.
He met with the MACC on June 7 and the next day, the agency raided FGV offices in Menara Felda in Kuala Lumpur, carting away files of documents to facilitate its investigations.
Yesterday, former minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Idris Jala, was said to have recommended that the FGV board take disciplinary proceedings against Zakaria and three others over a breach of procedures pertaining to the delayed payments by a Dubai-based Afghan company, Safitex, to a FGV subsidiary.
