JOHOR BAHRU: Two good Samaritans were killed and three others seriously injured after a car rammed into them as they were helping victims of an earlier accident along Jalan Johor Bahru-Air Hitam here, early this morning.
Those killed were S. Logess and R. Surendran, both of whom worked in Singapore while the identities of the other three were not known.
Johor Bahru Utara District Police chief ACP Mohd Taib Ahmad said that the five motorcyclists had stopped on the inner lane to help victims of an accident that had occurred earlier and to shift the vehicles involved.
However, a Proton Persona rammed into the group, before veering into the second lane and hitting another vehicle.
“The bodies of the two victims were sent to the Sultanah Aminah Hospital here. The three seriously injured victims were also sent to the Sultanah Aminah Hospital for further treatment,” he said in a statement here today.
No details were provided on the initial accident and the people involved, nor were there any details of the driver of the car which the Proton Persona had rammed into.
Meanwhile, the 29-year-old Proton Persona driver escaped with slight injuries and has been remanded to help in the investigation.
