DAP is not dominant party in PH, says Mahathir

mahathir-mohamad-dap-pakatan-harapan-ph-1KUALA LUMPUR: PPBM chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad today rubbished the prime minister’s claim that the DAP was in control of the opposition coalition.

The DAP, Dr Mahathir noted, was not the dominant party in Pakatan Harapan (PH).

Dr Mahathir, who is also PH chairman, said, when combined, Amanah and PKR – the other two parties in PH, which are led by Malays – had more elected representatives than the DAP.

“If they are that stupid, they would pick the DAP (to lead them), but they are not stupid, unlike Najib’s people who do not understand democracy,” Mahathir told reporters, referring to Najib Razak.

The former prime minister was asked to respond to Najib’s claim that the DAP remained the most dominant party in the opposition, when delivering his keynote address at Invest Malaysia 2017 yesterday.

Najib had also said that the DAP leader of the last half century was now hiding behind the man who had jailed him, trying to deceive Malays into thinking that the former leader was their interim candidate for prime minister.

He was referring to DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang, who was jailed under the Internal Security Act when Dr Mahathir was prime minister.
