KUALA LUMPUR: A Malaysian student has won several awards at the International Model United Nations conference in the US.
Prevena Ramakrishnan of SMK Sultan Badlishah, Kedah, won the ‘Best Speaker’ and ‘Best Position Paper’ awards, and Education Minister Mahdzir Khalid is happy about it.
He uploaded some pictures of her achievement and congratulated her on social media.
It is said to be the first time a Malaysian student had made it to this conference.
Mahdzir said on his Facebook account: “Prevena gave a presentation to 96 delegates from around the world. She has also won the ‘Best Speaker’ and ‘Best Position Paper’ awards. We are proud of your success!”
Hundreds of netizens responded to the post, praising Prevena for improving the image of Malaysia and making Malaysians proud.
The conference was part of a two-week project of the Unesco Centre for Peace in the US, aimed at promoting learning and cultural exchange.
