PETALING JAYA: Police are looking for the male neighbour of a 52-year old man who is suspected of repeatedly beating him with a cane in Klang, in an incident that was recorded on video and which has gone viral over social media.
The alleged victim, who claimed to be the person that was hit, lodged a report at the Bandar Baru Klang police station yesterday.
The video clip lasting a minute and 43 seconds shows a man and a crying woman sitting on the floor in a house, as a second man apparently speaking in Hokkien asks her to move aside before he starts telling off and beating the kneeling man, who starts screaming in pain.
A child can be seen crying loudly in the background.
According to a police statement issued today, the neighbour had been scolded by the man for coming to his house and interfering when he quarrelled with his wife at about 3.30pm on Sept 6.
This led to the neighbour to start hitting the man while another person recorded what was happening.
“The cause of the beating on the complainant was that he had scolded or insulted the suspect with vulgar utterances,” the statement said.
It added that the suspect had been identified as the neighbour and efforts were underway to trace him.
The victim later received treatment for injuries on the right shoulder, left thigh, backside and right calf at the Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah in Klang.
