KUALA LUMPUR: Well-known entrepreneur Maznah Hamid, who was referred to as “The Iron Lady” by many people, died at the National Heart Institute (IJN) here at 6pm today. She was 62.
A family member said Maznah succumbed to complications following heart surgery on Sept 28 to clear two valves.
She was also a member of the Umno Wanita executive council.
Maznah’s husband, Shaheen Mirza Habib, and family members were by her side when she died.
Prime Minister Najib Razak was also present at IJN to pay his last respects.
Maznah was dubbed the Iron Lady due to her security business. She was the executive chairman of Kumpulan Securiforce Sdn Bhd.
Her remains will be brought home at 10 tonight to Villa Maznah, Lot 3688, Jalan Ukay 2, off Jalan Lee Hin Neo, Ukay Heights, Ampang.
Funeral prayers will be held after Asar prayers tomorrow at Masjid Darul Ehsan, Taman Tun Abdul Razak, Ampang. This will be followed by the burial at Taman Raudhatul Sakinah, (Karak 2), Taman Selasih.
Maznah was admitted to IJN for treatment on Sept 18.
