Bus driver stabbed for leaving passenger behind

bus-driver-stabbedKANGAR: A bus driver was stabbed by an angry passenger at the Jalan Bukit Lagi express bus station here today, after the latter was believed to have been left behind by accident during a toilet break at an earlier stop.

Kangar district police chief Supt Wari Kiew said the suspect was said to have alighted from the bus at the Shahab Perdana bus station in Alor Setar, Kedah, at 11.02am to use the toilet but later realised that the bus had left for Kangar without him.

“Subsequently, the angry passenger confronted the (express) bus counter before taking a taxi to Kangar,” he told reporters here.

Wari said the suspect went straight to the bus station in Kangar and entered the bus by the front door as soon as it arrived before allegedly stabbing the 33-year-old driver on the left shoulder.

He then fled the scene.

The driver was taken to the Tengku Fauziah Hospital here and given outpatient treatment.

Wari said police seized a knife, a green collared T-shirt and a suitcase at the scene and were hunting for the suspect.
